Hello from Kagoshima!
We are KAGOTEAM! We provide the premium quality of kagoshima tea directly from our farms at a reasonable price.
Due to COVID-19 impact, we are unable to invite our buyers from overseas this year.
So we want to make sure that our buyers are well informed about our product and the story behind the farmers.
On June 2nd, 2020, we visited “our friendly uncle”, Mr. Henta at Henta Seicha Co., Ltd.
His family has been growing tea since 1967 in Kirishima. <<check the location>>
Their gardens are planted at an altitude of 200-300 meters (656-984 feet.)
Mr. Henta kindly showed us around, and told us the key to making good organic tea.
He took us to a garden with young tea plats. What is under the surface is the secret to the healthy organic tea.
It is the SOIL.
The process of farming begins with making the good soil.
He uses pig manure to make the soil. Kagoshima is a leading producing prefecture in Japan.
At the same time, it is the largest pork producer in Japan, so it is not hard getting the pig manure.
We found a big earthworm that helps making good soil.
Mr. Henta told us the process of how to make the garden so that their tea trees becomes easier to handle with an organic environment.
